Demand
Response and Renewable Energy: What to
Do When the Winds Stops Blowing
Thursday,
January 8, 2009; 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Eastern)
On February
26, 2008, wind turbine output in Texas (which represents 10% of the
capacity in ERCOT's territory) was significantly below the "hour
ahead" wind resource plans. Suddenly, Demand Response resources
became critical to halting frequency decline and restoring the ERCOT
grid to stable operation.
Learn how
Demand Response and Renewable Energy are natural partners in
providing clean, reliable energy to consumers.
Discover how Demand Response resources are being integrated
into the control rooms of transmission system operators.
This panel
of experts will discuss the benefits gained by society from this
partnership, and specifically how the partnership works.
Topics will include:
·
Distinctions between active
vs. passive Demand Resources
·
Integration of DR Assets
within SCADA
·
Grid
Implications of Expansion of Wind and Solar
Generation
·
Goals
of NERC Report on Integrating Variable
Resources
·
Real-Time Pricing and
Wing/Solar Integration
Presenters
