Peak Load
Management Alliance Fall Conference, Hosted by TVA
Demand
Response for the Mass Market
November
14-16, 2011
Chattanoogan Hotel, Chattanooga, TN
Peak Load
Management Alliance (PLMA) and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) have joined
together to present a conference concentrating on the residential and small
commercial markets for demand response.
The conference will be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee and includes a
field trip to TVA’s Raccoon Mountain Pumped Storage Facility, the nation’s
largest energy storage site.
The Tennessee Valley
Authority, a corporation owned by the U.S. government, provides electricity
for 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states at prices
below the national average. TVA, which receives no taxpayer money and makes no
profits, also provides flood control, navigation and land management for the
Tennessee River system and assists utilities and state and local governments
with economic development.
· 156 local power distributors
· 50 large industrial customers
· 6 federal installations
TVA's Mission and Vision
TVA has renewed its vision to
help lead the Tennessee Valley region and the nation toward a cleaner and more
secure energy future, relying more on nuclear power and energy efficiency and
relying less on coal.
The conference features a
field trip to TVA’s Raccoon Mountain Pumped Storage Facility, the nation’s
largest energy storage installation.
This trip includes a detailed behind the scenes look at the pumped
storage and generation at the facility and is included with your conference
registration fee.
TVA is inviting all of their
customer local power distributors to attend this conference at a greatly
reduced registration fee. These
distributors are being encouraged by TVA to utilize demand response as a
resource and reliability tool. Since the
bulk of the electricity usage in the region served by TVA is by mass market
customers, the conference will focus on this market segment.
With the huge emphasis being
place on mass market demand response by the FERC National Action Plan for
Demand Response, this conference has a broad appeal to utilities all across the
country and of all sizes. Learn what
